Last week I mentioned that I would let you know when Ruby Vasquez launched her product eazypac. Ruby started at square one and has taken every single class I offer. Life has thrown unexpected obstacles and she's held on to her dream with tenacity and fierce determination. I thought you'd like to hear her story.

Tamara: What inspired you to create eazypac

Ruby: When my son was a toddler, I was always running around rh158-b2fc217f-7838-4334-ace1-0e35ee0e78b9-v2trying to get our things ready to make those early morning appointments.  Oftentimes, I didn't even have enough time to feed him before we left the house so I would grab something and rush out the door.  Everything I found was a little too hard for him to use on his own without making a complete mess in my car!  We also traveled quite a bit, so like any mother knows, you have to take everything with you just in case (baby shampoos, creams, and other necessities). The travel containers were always a pain to fill, they would leak no matter where you packed them, and  I could never reuse them because they were impossible to clean completely.  So that's when I came up with the idea of the eazypac, a versatile, collapsible container that can do it all and fit all types of situations and lifestyles.

Tamara: What has been the biggest challenge you've had to overcome?

rh158-9c70974a-979c-410c-8c67-99df345b308f-v2Ruby: There have been so many! The biggest challenge I had to overcome is in designing the eazypac.  I had an initial design that I spent a lot of money on and ultimately did not function correctly.  We did not realize this until after we had invested and made the tooling.  So a lot of time and money was lost, and then we had to spend more money trying to re-design it.

My second major obstacle was being in a serious car accident. I was diagnosed with retrograde amnesia. To this day, it is difficult to focus and I struggle a lot with my short term memory.  And then, let's just add the challenges that go with everyday life.  My son was a toddler when I started this journey. And, I was taking care of him while getting work done all while pregnant, and now adding a 7 month old to the mix.  This whole process has been a span of over 3 years.

Tamara: What has surprised you the most about this process & starting a business?

Ruby: It's a lot of hard work, stress and emotional up and downs. RubyKickstarter You have to believe in yourself that what you are doing is attainable and that you will succeed.  The biggest surprise has been in my strength and staying optimistic through it all. This would have not been possible if I hadn't come across people who I consider my blessings.  There will always be people who are going through the same thing you are and people who have reached where you want to be. Even the most successful people can surprise you with their wish to help and see you succeed.

Tamara: What advice would you give other aspiring entrepreneurs?

Ruby: Don't give up on your dreams.  You have the ability to go after whatever you want. You just need to have the courage and belief in yourself that you can do it.  I like to say that I find a loophole in everything.  Sometimes it is not obvious, but there is always a solution, so find your loophole!  Also, there is never a “right time” for anything.  The more you keep putting things off, something will always come up and take its place.  Don't hesitate, and just go for it!

Tamara: How can we support you?

Ruby: Currently, I am running a campaign on Kickstarter (crowd funding) to raise funds for my first production run.  I am trying to raise $30,000 in 30 days.  Everybody that pledges will also be receiving my product and I can finally bring my product to life and to you, and get it on store shelves in the very near future.  Also, sharing this project with all your family, friends, and peers will increase my chances in succeeding.  I need to make my goal amount completely in order to be funded. Any and all support is appreciated!

We are cheering for you, Ruby!
